Friday evening Open House

Friday evening May 18. Phyllis (Spahr) Kent is planning an open house from 7 to 9 pm.bike trip around Elmhurst

“Let’s Ride”

How ’bout a bicycle tour through the old neighborhoods? What better way to revisit the old grade schools and other places that are a part of our 50’s memories. Classmate Phil Snider is a member of the Fort Wayne Bike Club. He has led hundreds of urban exploring rides in Fort Wayne and vicinity and has reserved the afternoon of May 19 for a ride down memory lane with the class of ’57.

The ride will use lightly traveled streets and the local Greenway. The route is best suited to mountain or hybrid style bicycles and the pace should be a moderate 10 to 12 mph. Current plans call for two loops approximately 12 miles each. Both will start at the EHS parking lot. The first begins at 1 P.M. and will visit Waynedale and Hillcrest. The north loop is scheduled for 2:30 and will include the Kelly building of the Canterbury School that was formerly Anthony Wayne Grade School.

Ride one loop or both. Loaner bikes can be available for out–of-towners. We might even “buzz” Hall’s. For more information contact Phil at sniderp@bright.net.

Elmhurst Tour

Saturday morning a tour of Elmhurst High School is scheduled at 10am. Meet in the back parking lot. Mr Don Goss is guiding us on this tour. (Recent newspaper articles say Elmhurst will be closing in five years). After the tour those wishing to, can eat lunch at Orchard Ridge Country Club.

Golf

Golf is available at Chestnut Hills (260-625-4146). You will need to make early reservations. Fees are reasonable 9 holes $25 with cart, $18 no cart. There is great shopping at Jefferson Pointe, located 5 miles east of the Hilton on US 24.

We have a photographer who will take candid shots at the reunion dinner and compile a DVD of 150 to 200 pictures plus a group picture 8x10 for $25, or you can get just the group picture for $8. Non-attendees can also order.

The reunion won’t be complete until we’ve found everyone. Dave Smith has worked tirelessly finding us but the following classmates have not been found:

If you have any addresses or information about these people please email David Smith, or write him at: 1860 Balzac Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89156.

We have our own web site thanks to Sharon (Isenbarger) Scribner and daughter Laura. If you have pictures or stories you would like to share please email Sharon.

Gary Baehler has compiled a biography sheet and wants to have them all returned to him ASAP. Email Gary.

Hope to see all you “Saints Come Marching In.”
