Elmhurst High School Class of 1956

Service of Remembrance

Leader: In baptism we were buried with Christ.
People: SO THAT AS CHRIST WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD, WE TOO MIGHT WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE.

Leader: If we are united with Christ in death.
People: WE SHALL BE UNITED WITH HIM IN A RESURRECTION LIKE HIS.

Leader: This is our hope, and not ours only, but it is the hope of all people.
People: THANKS BE TO GOD!

Leader: Lord, we are grateful for all our teachers who challenged us to do our best even when we seemed indifferent or unconcerned.
People: THANKS BE TO GOD!

Leader: We are grateful for those in all places and in all times who have blessed our lives, but we are especially grateful this day for our classmates who have died in the flesh...yet remain alive in our hearts and in God’s love. For our classmates...

People: O LORD, WE GIVE YOU THANKS.

Leader: Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life; if anyone believes in me, even though he dies, he will live and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”
People: WE PRAISE YOU, LORD OF LIFE AND OF DEATH.

Leader: Gracious God of us all, confident of your eternal love, we pray to you for these classmates who have touched our lives, but we see no more.
People: GRANT THEM YOUR PEACE.

Leader: May they forever dwell in your love.
People: FOREVER AND EVER.

Leader: This is our prayer, for them, and for us all.
People: IN THE NAME OF GOD THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN!
